We are less that 4 months away from the Customs enforcement phase of the 10 plus 2, Importer Security Filing. Fines of up to $5,000 a violation are on the horizon.
Importers who have waited to start filing their ISFs need to start building their filing track record with CBP.
At the Customs Outreach seminars they were very open about being lenient on filers who have been filing this past year and might have some prblems after the enforcement deadline.
Customs states that importers who wait until the last minute to start filing and run in to problems, will face fines and will not have the mitigating factors that importers who have been filing will have.
